But Clouds Being Seas

It seems that when people die their work is given more attention, and so I found myself doing with Leonard Cohen a few days ago. Having not listened to much of his work before (and even Suzanne being left unheard for years) it was intriguing to hear what the man offered lyrically. His subjects seem to drift in ways I would use an Oscar Wilde quote to describe: We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.
So, here I have tried to put that in my own style. Let me know what you think of it in the comments.

They would burn the clouds
And empty out the view
Striking matches fierce
Against all we can do.
But clouds being seas
Return to the ocean
And climb up again
In e’er flowing motion.
