The Day Centre Chap

“Good morning.” “Hello.”
Each dawn by his day centre
He stands, head down low
Under that hood – his nose red.

Is it red by cold?
Induced by an old habit?
Won’t ask him for gold!
Not a pound near one thousand!

What is his story?
Ah! It could be imagined!
But it would mostly
Be incorrect – fantasy.

This poem was written in dedication to a man who will never read it. He appears to be homeless, and whilst I could imagine many a backstory for him I won’t ever ask him his real story. I would feel rude assuming certain things about him!
