Blessings Before Salvation

Today’s hymn dwells on how I was kept before I was saved. It doesn’t go into great depth, so it’s something I want to write about further still.

The blessings given unto me,
By the most holy, high above,
As I look back are clear to see,
And are bathed in his caring love.

There have been trying times of fear,
When life has almost proved too much,
As my mind could not make it clear,
I have been guided by his touch.

Knowledge held back from my young mind,
Saved me from dwelling on my death,
As the world’s gifts blown by the wind,
Scattered themselves out of my path.
